PLANT MANAGER - MACHINING

Bucher Hydraulics, a world class hydraulics company, has a great opportunity for an operations manager who can lead and continually improve operations.  This hands-on leader should possess a strong machining background including CNC machining and grinding of aluminum.  This facility has 50 machines used for manufacturing custom hydraulic pumps and manifold products.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Manage the daily schedule to ensure each part is made per the customer specifications/ISO requirements and ships on time.
• Ensure all work is being performed in a safe and effective manner
• Work with the support functions throughout other U.S. locations
• Ensure scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is being performed and there is a high sense of urgency to keep capital equipment in optimal working condition.
• Implement lean principles and teach lean techniques.
• Develop goals and objectives communicating with the team and engage the team in continuous improvement.
• Lead, motivate and develop the skills of a group consisting of 50 employees.
• Develop long range strategies including capital equipment expenditures and headcount.
• Implement changes to increase efficiency and stream line business processes – eliminating waste.
• Work across multiple functions and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
• Communicate with other facilities when issues arise and take charge of correcting issues.
• Stay current with new technology and methods and ensure operations are on the leading edge

JOB REQUIREMENTS

An excellent candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

• 10 years experience leading a machining operation.
• Bachelor’s Degree required – Manufacturing Engineering background preferred.
• Strong understanding of machining equipment and tooling.
• A working knowledge of ISO Quality Systems requirements along with production approval processes.
• Demonstrate ability to motivate people, assess and develop employee skills, and provide strong leadership in a production environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A “hands on” leadership approach.
• Possess strong values and respect for others.
